Kiva is a crowd-funding site supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries. Through the Estrogen Army project we will be investing in women who would otherwise have a difficult time accessing traditional loans to fund their own adventures.
Today we’re celebrating our nineteenth “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship!
Yolanda is our October “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva entrepreneur. She’s 53 years old, and we’re helping her make a dream come true. She wants to open her own restaurant, and she still needs a little help.
This month we’re celebrating our nineteenth “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship by helping Yolanda Del Carmen, age 53, make a dream come true.
Yolanda lives in Santo Domingo, Ecuador with relatives, having giving her home to a son to start his own business, which is going very well.
More than a year ago Yolanda returned to her native country, Ecuador, after living in Spain because of the labor market. There she cooked in restaurants and acquired a lot of experience. She lived alone and sent money back to her children to fix up the house. But she also kept saving because she wanted to return home and start her own food business.
Yolanda lacked the capital to get started. She has the location, and has bought a counter and range, but she needs tables, raw materials and other utensils.
With our October “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship we’re helping Yolanda get started on that adventure.
She still needs a little more help!
