Our Twelfth Kiva Diva: Myriam in Columbia (March 2015)

Our Twelfth Kiva Entrepreneur - Myriam De Jesus in Medllin, Columbia - March 2015

Kiva is a crowd-funding site supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries. Through the Estrogen Army project we will be investing in women who would otherwise have a difficult time accessing traditional loans to fund their own adventures.

Today we’re celebrating our Twelfth “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship!

We’re helping 62 year old widow, Myriam de Jesus in Columbia, get the materials she needs to compete as a seamstress in a growing market with our March “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship.

This month we’re celebrating our twelfth “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship by helping a 62-year-old widow who is struggling to compete in her market.

Myriam de Jesus is a 62-year-old seamstress, widow and mother of two. Both of her children have their own families. She is alone at home and struggling to generate enough income to survive.

Myriam has been working hard from her small home-based sewing shop since 1984. Her biggest worry is keeping her business alive in the face of competition from new and upcoming tailor shops, at a time when she doesn’t have the same agility she had a few years ago.

We’re helping Myriam buy thread, fabric and brooches. With these materials she will have the working capital she needs to better compete in the market with our March “Adventures with the Estrogen Army” Kiva sponsorship.

She still needs a little more help!
